Campus Meet 2008

Campus meet ‘08 was conducted from 14th to 17th August, 2008 at Divine Call Centre, Mulki for youth from different campuses. There were 500 participants for this programme. The programme went on with inspiring sessions, heart touching skits, enlightening music, audio- visuals, group discussions, breath-taking choreography, adoration, inner healing, Holy Mass, repentance, confession, praise and worship. The sessions were based on the theme, personal prayer and prayer meetings. There were beautiful testimonies in the programme.

The Theame of the program was Celebrating life. At the end of the programme the participants got a new experience with Jesus by feeling the love of GOD and inner healing.

The sessions were conducted by Fr Franklin, Br Mario,Br Rodney, Br Saju, Br Shinoj, Dr Nishan and Br Suraj. Prayer meeting have started in different places as a fruit of this program. The Music was lead by Kaju, Aniesh and Ajiesh from the Rex Band and the Bud Strings of Mangalore.

illuminate - Campus Gathering

illuminate the Campus Gathering of Mangalore took place on the 8th June,2008. There were around 50 participants gathered at St Agnes Special School Hall, Mangalore



ice breaker was conducted by Brayn (Roshini Nilaya Core team), where the ice was broken with some wonderful songs and some group discussions


The ice breaker was followed by a wonderful praise and worship led by Alveera (Campus team member) and Prem, which really got people gathered to praise The Almighty Lord and to worship Him.

A very wonderful sharing on "Precious Blood of Jesus" by Mr Dolphy (chairman of Charismatic Renewal in M'lore) touched all the participants gathered there, it was concluded by some tips on how we can ask the precious blood of Jesus by Birdy Aunty, the music was lead by Prem on guitar and Julius on the drums. Br Shinoj (M'lore subregion fulltimer) shared his views, as it was his first day in Mlore. Prem also sang the Campus song composed by him.

Discipleship Training Programme 2008

Discipleship Training Programme '08, Mangalore, was held at Pastoral Centre, Bajjodi, Mangalore from 24th May -1st June, 2008


HIGHLIGHTS OF DTP
  • 24 participants
  • 5 religious also participated (2 Sisters - DSHJ and 2 Seminarians - Dominican).
  • 3 days retreat.
  • 6 days training.
  • Out reach to an old age home.
  • Group activities, Group discussions.
  • Pro-life exhibition.
  • Counselling and eldering.
  • Meeting with the family members on the last day.

Retreat was conducted by Fr Franklin and Mr Wilson (Delhi JY animator).
Mr Baby Chacko (Babychayan) dealt with the topics inner healing, discipleship, values and cleanliness.
Mr Siju Alenchery took up the session on self awareness, communication skills, and personality development.
Dr Edward (Eddy Chetan) spoke on Jesus Youth Ministry.
Ms Hemalata (Hemalata Teacher) spoke about Mother Mary and importance of Intercession.
Mr Vijay Sebastian spoke on the importance of evangelization.
Mr Suraj conducted a session on praise and worship.
Mr Anil on personal prayer
Br Kenneth addressed the gathering on the importance of word of God.
Fr Roger spoke about the importance of the Catholic Church
Mr Saji Arakulam was there for the counselling through out and also he had taken up sessions on praise. His testimony was the most inspiring one.
Mr Rodney Periera spoke on mass media, discipleship and leadership.
Ms Sweety spoke about Pro-life.

Participants are filled with the zeal and courage to work for God's kingdom. DTP did shape the participants personality and lifestyle to work for the glory of God.

There were about 30 family members of the participants who were present on the parents gathering which was held no 1st June followed by the commissioning mass which was celebrated by Fr Melwyn D'Cunha SJ (animator of Jesus Youth in Mangalore).
Parents were very happy with DTP and the functioning of Jesus Youth in Mangalore.

Pray for Vinitha

Urgent Prayer and Financial Aid Required for Vinitha (Balraj's Sister), a Primary school girl suffering from GB Syndrome (Guillain-Barre syndrome is an uncommon inflammatory disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves, typically causing severe weakness and numbness that usually starts in your extremities and quickly worsens. Eventually your whole body can become paralyzed, even the muscles used for breathing).
Total cost of treatement is Rs 1.5 lakh for injection + ICU care charges.

Vinitha is currently in ICU of St Johns Hospital, Bangalore.

She needs immediate treatment. Vinitha and her brother Balraj have been active in the Jesus Youth ministry in Mangalore. Please pray for them and pass on the message to all your friends.

5th & 6th April, 2008 - Service team meeting
Service team meeting at Ashoknagar Church, Mangalore
Service team of Mangalore had its meeting in Ashoknagar Church from 5th evening. Fr Beenish and Sr Rosemary were also present during the meeting.

11th April - Formation of St. Joseph Engineering College Prayer meeting Core team

- The first core team of St. Joseph’s engineering college prayer meeting was formed with a total of 6 members with Robert as the coordinator and Carol as the asst. coordinator. A new blog of the prayer meeting is also being created visit http://jesusyouth-sjec.blogspot.com


13th April Bl Alphonsa Chruch Prayer meeting core team formation – A new core team was formed for the Alphonsa prayer meting with a total of 9 members.

19th and 20th April - Karnataka service team training – A two day training for all the key leaders of Karnataka was held at Pastoral Centre. 30 participants were present. The main resources were Mr. Dr. Chackochan Njavally, Br. George, Br. Dony, Br.Siljo, Br. Rodney, Br Shoy and Sr.Rosemary, Sr.Cicil. The sessions were mainly on solving problems in ministry and current trends and issues at leadership level.

20th April - Living Waters at Manipal


A Professional gathering mainly involving all the doctors, engineers and the working crowd of Manipal came under one roof to experience the joy and love of Jesus. It was a one day initial program with 40 participants. The sessions were handled by Br. George and Br. Dony. All the participants were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit by the end of the program.

25th to 29th April - Full timers outreach in Mangalore Fulltimers outreach to Mangalore 17th Batch, Jesus Youth Mangalore
– A total of 10 full timers came to Mangalore for a mission experience. They went to various places like St. Joseph Engineering College, Wenlock Hospital, Mudipu and various prayer meetings in Mangalore. Jesus youths from Mangalore were accompanying them on each of the days.

26th & 27th April - Night Vigil at Bishop's House, Mangalore
Night vigil at Bishops House, Jesus Youth Mangalore
The monthly night vigil of Jesus Youth in Mangalore was held at Bishops house from 26th evening to 27th morning. Around 50 people came for the night vigil and spent their the whole night with the lord.
27th April, Nurses Builders Program
Builders Program at Olivet House
– A one day leaders gathering for nurses took place at Olivet House, Jeppu for 80 participants. Br. Joshy M A from Kerala was the main resource.

Second step
Second step every Saturday at Fatima Retreat House Mangalore, Jesus Youth

Every Saturday 13 disciples gather together at Retreat House to spend time with their master Jesus and to learn more about Him. The sessions are taken by Merlin and Suraj.

As we thank the Lord for all the blessings that he has showered on us in the month of April we keep all the initiatives of the Jesus youth in the coming month

illuminate at St Agnes Spl School


Campus gathering "illuminate" took place at St. Agnes special, Mangalore. on 9/3/2008 from 2:30p.m -5:00p.m. There were about about 40 students present from St Joseph Engg College, Roshni Nilaya, St.Aloysius College, St.Agnes College and other colleges of Mangalore.
Robert from St.Joseph Engg led the praise and worship. An interactive session on 'Holy Spirit' by Fr.Fred.

Sharol n team conveyed the messege of lent and how much Jesus loves us through a skit. Finally Prem sang the song composed by him"Prayer for the campuses of Mangalore".

Taizé Prayer at Fatima Retreat House


It was a blessing to have Taize prayer, at Fatima Retreat House (open-air) on 8th March,2008 (6:30pm to 8:00pm). The atmosphere was filled with the beautiful presence of our Lord along with the lovely songs of worship which were being chanted melodiously by a choir of 20 people led by Suraj and Rodney. There were nearly600 people present. The taizé worship went on for one and a half hour with brief periods of silence and readings from the word of God which helped the people to be in the presence of the Lord. At the end of the prayer all the people were given with lit candels symbolising that 'Jesus is the Light of the world'.


The decoration which was done skillfully added to the beauty of Taize worship, the decoration team was lead by Sherin and Francis.
The prayer started after the gathering was welcomed by Fr Ronnie Prabhu SJ followed by a brief introduction about the Taizé prayer by Rodney and Sharrel.




We are very grateful to the authorities of Fatima retreat house for their whole hearted support and cooperation.

U-Turn



U-trun, a initiative of the Bl Alphonsa Prayer Meeting was conducted from 26th to 27th January, 2008. The program was attended by around 800 participants from various colleges in Mangalore. The seesions were taken by Shashi Emanuel and CC Joseph. The participants were all filled with joy and had the desire to do something for the Lord.


The highlight of the program also included the coreography, skits, and rocking music.


The general co-ordinator of the program was Paul.

South Asia Conference



'Love Beyond Borders', the South Asia Conference of Jesus Youth was held on 27th to 30 th December, 2007 at Bharat Mata College, Kochi. More than 7500 participants were present for the program from India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and other countries. Around 75 people participated from Mangalore. There were many Bishops, Priests and Religious also present for the program. The participants had a personal expierience with the Lord.
