Christmas at City Centre Mall

The music ministry shed its light on the people who had come to City Centre with the Christmas Carols... a music that glorifies God amidst of marketing needs.

It was dream of Mr. Prem Machado to have this wonderful initiative. May we have such dreams and bring them to action - both with prayer and discernment.

'Hark the herald Angels sing, glory to the new born King.'
May the gloria that Angels sang 2000 years ago, be heard by todays generation.

Recommitment '12

The Jesus Youth of Mangalore conducted the recommitment day program in Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore on 27th May, 2012.

PREPARATION
The Mangalore Jesus Youth fervently prepared themselves for day of Pentecost & Recommitment. One month prior to the Pentecost, Jesus Youth began its personal preparation to welcome the Holy Spirit. Also a list of daily preparatory activities was distributed among the Jesus Youth through Prayer meetings, an initiative of Intercession Ministry. The Intercession ministry also arranged for other preparatory initiatives like 12 hour adorations every Tuesday, chain fasting, urging the Jesus Youths to offer masses and rosaries for the intention of Pentecost. Many Jesus Youths also took up fasting and abstinence, especially for the nine days preceding Pentecost, and received the sacrament of penance to worthily welcome the Spirit.

NOVENA
At various places, the novena to the Holy Spirit were conducted.Following are few places where people were attending novenas.

  • Fathima Retreat House, along with mass at 6.30pm
  • St.Alphonsa Church,along with mass at 5.30pm
  • Fr.Muller Medical College ,at 6 pm
  • St.Josephs college

Those who could not attend at these places recited personally or formed small groups which would daily gather at their convenient time to recite novena.

RECOMMITMENT DAY ‘12
The Recommitment Day gathering in Mangalore was held in Roshini Nilaya. It  was a special day for Jesus Youth all over as they renew their commitment to God and His mission with the help of His Spirit.Around  200 enthusiastic youth had gathered from all over the city

The half day progam began at 8am and Mr.Prem and Ms Alma , the MCs of the day, beautifully compered the day’s events. They interacted with the crowd and with the help of an interesting  ice breaker game followed by an action song got the whole crowd in a celebrative mood.

Then  Ms.Brigit Davis, Program Co-ordinator  of the day, gave an eye-opening keynote highlighting the fact that since Pentecost is the day Church was established,it is also the day when Christ sent His Spirit and entrusted His mission to us through the apostles. Therefore the day of Pentecost is very aptly chosen as our recommitment day.“Do we dare to become a Missionary for Him?” was one question that all were to ask themselves that day.

This was followed by Jesus Youth prayer  of the day that also included a vibrant praise and worship led by Mr.Dexter  with the help of music ministry.

Then was the fun-filled games session led by the very dynamic and mischievious duo Ameeka and Regina.

After that entertaining break, was a thought provoking session led by Mr.Anil(Co-ordinator of JY M’lore) where he emphatically stressed on the point that we should extend ourselves beyond our prayer meetings to reach out to others. Also we should not limit the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit that we receive for ourselves but use it to bring more people to Christ.

It was followed by the Recommitment day Liturgy celebrated by Vicar General Msgr Dennis Moras  Prabhu and Fr.Nelson. Homily  was given by Fr.Nelson who effectively spoke about the gifts and fruits of Holy Spirit in a very practical manner that connected with the Youth.

After the mass,Mr.Jeejo led the recommitment day prayer followed by the infilling of the Holy Spirit  by Fr.Nelson. The entire  gathering were anointed with the Spirit as they earnestly opened their hearts to welcome Him.

Mr Golvin Peter(Asst.Co-ordinator of JY M’lore) then gave updates on various Ministry activities and other important events that happened in JY M’lore. We were honoured to have a surprise guest,Bro.T.A Joseph,a religious brother and gospel preacher from Hyderabad. He spoke about how Jesus Youths inspired him and assured us his prayers.Fr.Sunil & Fr.Alex also graced the occasion with their presence.
Then the birthday babies for the month  were called forward and the cake was cut and the Youths prayed for them. The Gathering winded up after the vote of  thanks and refreshments were served.

The day’s events wouldn’t have been possible without the Almighty’s blessing and the dedicated efforts of many youths who worked for it.Those who took various responsibilities for the day were Tressa, Brigit, Tejas, Nathalia, Joylin, Lester, Aathira, Jofy, Silvy, Thankam, Sharon, Bibin, Alwin, Gibin, Sherrin, Martin, Jeejo.

And would specially thank Anil,Golvin,Tressa and the entire service team for their support and help. And Hebin & Dr.Nishan who helped with the program.

Sr.Icy,Sr.Dhanya helped with the liturgical arrangements and the Mamdams in the Roshini Nilaya community who helped with whatever was required.

The Recommitment day program had just been an outward manifestation in a small way of the actual significance of the day.Its true meaning lies in each of us realizing our mission and taking a commitment for it;if not a recommitment.
-- Steffi Francis (gen.co-ordinator of Recommitment day ’12)

JRock 2012 - Teens Camp

JRock Poster _ front

‘JRock’ JY teens Program was held in Mangalore from the 20th to the 22nd of April 2012. This Program was a beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit to the Teens ministry of Mangalore.

It all began with the Lord sowing the desire in the hearts of the Teens ministry team to reach out to maximum number of teens in Mangalore and to give them the good news that Jesus loves them.

Three months of preparation later the efforts culminated into the magnificent ‘JRock’. After coming together, praying, discerning the lord’s will, we came up with the team to work for JRock. The Lord blessed us abundantly with the gift of Alphonsa who took up as general Coordinator and Whirl as Asst. coordinator.

The name and theme of the program was also decided in prayer that’s how we came up with ‘Camp JRock 2012’ and the theme ‘Being me….. For him’ wherein the central message of the program was celebrating the uniqueness of every teen for the glory of God !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The aim was to lead them onto the path of discovery of Who I am? Who is God? Why not ‘try’ God? We divided ourselves into various teams headed by blessed and committed leaders. (Program team- Anand and Henrietta, Intercession- Janet and Annette, Mobilization- Arpita, Finance-Lester and Roshni, Music-Stephanie, Food – Dickson)

The mobilization began by visiting various schools and conducting ½ hour progs for orientation to the camp, visiting Parishes, putting up posters and handing out flyers.

Camp Jrock began early on 20th April at 8.00 am in St. Anthony’s home Jeppu. We were blessed with precious 43 souls who were chosen by our lord.

Day 1 we were lead into sessions taken by gifted resources like Merlin, Golvin dealing with topics like uniqueness of every Teen, Jesus the only savior. Day 1 saw its Mc in the dynamic Gleron. Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr.Sunil. . Adoration was lead by Roseanne. Throughout the day, the prog was interspersed with Activities, Movie (Facing the Giants), and vibrant music lead by our anointed music team and Camp Fire which gave a true Camp experience to each teen.

Day 2 began with Lanston leading the teens into what is praise and Worship followed by the unveiling of JRock theme song ‘Celebrate the Lord’ (written and composed by Dr. Nishan, Stephanie) this song had our teens tapping their feet to the vibrant music and lifting their arms in Praise to celebrate the Lord! The MC for the day was the bubbly and energetic Primal. Day 2 lead teens into sessions like what is sin? repentance, inner healing, rosary taken up by anointed resources like Anil, Gleron and Thankam. An activity of sin is addictive was conducted. The teens prepared and had their confessions and in the evening were lead into an inner healing by Anil. The inner healing session saw the glory of heaven descend down into the camp as many teens were moved, cleansed and healed.

Day 3 The MC for this day was our blessed Prem. The Radiant day 3 began with Golvin leading Praise and Worship followed by sharing on personal prayer by Lynn. All the teens were then sent into the woods to have a time of personal prayer. The pillars of JY were introduced to the teens by a panel sharing lead by Tania. Father Nelson very beautifully introduced the Holy spirit to the teens and this was followed by the holy Eucharist with an infilling of the Holy Spirit. This infilling reminded us of the blessed day of Pentecost. Planning and evangelization session, were clubbed together wherein the teens themselves gave suggestions on how they want the message of Christ to spread to all through the testimony of their lives. Jeby and Anthony national teen’s team members introduced JY Karnataka teens gathering. Adrian a teen, from the program had his birthday celebrated towards the end of the camp. Our program ended with a Celebration which marked the ending of Camp JRock but the beginning of a committed walk of faith in the lives of these teens.

The program would not have been a success without the incessant intercession of the volunteers there was simultaneous open adoration, Jericho rosaries conducted where all the volunteers interceded with burden in their hearts for the teens. Volunteers did such a brilliant job of even doing the littlest of tasks with joy, humility and sacrifice. The teen’s ministry would not have been able to carry out this program without the blessing of our Lord and our blessed Mangalore service team under the leadership of our coordinators Anil and Golvin who motivated, inspired us constantly. Very special thanks to Shasta and Hebin for helping us to come up with a beautiful program schedule. Roseanne was our pillar of strength since the inception of this prog. Priests, Religious and elders like Father Sunil, Sr.Icy and Aunty Doreen who supported us with their strong prayers and experience. The management of St. Anthony’s home for taking care of our tiniest need and accommodating us.

We praise God for this wonderful camp and can’t stop thanking him for all the marvels he has worked in the lives of lowly servants.

Celebrate Life - Prolife Exhibition

The Prolife exhibition which was organised in St. Joseph Engineering College with joint initiation of few final year students along with Bangalore Prolife ministry and Mangalore JY, witnessed great success when the visitors topped to 1200 plus which included the students of the college, HODs, and deans and other teaching and non teaching staffs along with the governing body members of the institution and outside public. A surprise visit by the Director of St.Johns Medical College Bangalore were a great treat who encouraged Prolife volunteers to keep up the good work. The exhibition had a media coverage from Daijiworld.com.

This Prolife exhibition was conducted with the help of Bangalore Prolife team and Mangalore JY by providing materials and volunteer resources who were specifically trained for almost one month period prior to the exhibition At the initial planning we identified around 5 to 6 dedicated youths of the college to carry out this exhibition which soon rose to 14 who would contribute their time and energy for this. Training were provided to the volunteers who were designated to stand at the stall to explain debatable topics such as Abortion, Euthanasia, IVF, surrogacy, artificial insemention, Population explosion myth and Culture of Death besides other topics and a video presentation. Few volunteers spent almost 3 nights at the venue to arrange the stalls. Hard work was definitely seen during the exhibition which was witnessed by a large crowd. I would like to thank everyone present during the exhibition and many in absentia and mainly the Intercession teams across JY circles in Mangalore and Bangalore for their kind sincere support.

Let the Will of God always happen.
