"JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD HAS COME"

Jesus youths of Mangalore came together for the christmas celebration on the 13th Dec, 09 at St. Agnes Special School from 2-5pm. This was also a gathering of Jesus youth families. Around 5-6 families were present with the presence of around 50 jesus youths.
The birthday of Jeus was celebrated with fun, food and frolic, and not to miss praising and worshipping our baby jesus. The music ministry indeed truely filled the place with the joy of the birth of the Lord. Fr. Rudolph, our own animator gave the christmas message.
So Joy had filled eveyone with the presence of baby Jesus in their hearts..

MEET JESUS:'Redefining Life"-A Malayalam program











An ever enthusiastic crowd of 1075 participants had filled the St.Aloysius hall with joy of meeting jesus on the 8th of November, 09'.
The registration started at 7.45am from the various colleges in and around Mangalore. The program started at 8.30 am by the MC’s Mr. Golwin Peter and Ms. Maria Francis. The music team led by Mr. Shejin supported the MCs to give a joyful beginning for the programme. At 9:00am the programme was inaugurated officially with the installation of Mother Mary's statue and the Holy Bible. Fr. Rudolf( Jesus youth animator,Manglore), Sr. Icey and Adv. George were on the dais. Fr Rudolf blessed the entire gathering.
At the outset,the audio visual team welcomed the participants with a welcome dance to the program. From 9.30 am Mr. V.V. Augustine took a session on the need of meeting Jesus to overcome the problems that we face in our youth life. He also took one more session on his personal experience with God. The Eucharistic adoration which was also led by him was a special experience and helped many participants for a personal encounter with the Lord and to make some firm decisions for life.
The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Joby, (Asst. Vicar, St. Alphonsa Church), Fr. Shaji, (Youth Director of Belthangady Diocese) and Fr. Biju. Fr. Shaji gave the homily on how the Jesus encounter will make our life more beautiful and enjoyable. Ms. Teresa, an active Jesus Youth shared her testimony of her Jesus encounter experience.
At 3:00pm, the audio visual team presented a heart-touching skit which conveyed the message on God’s love to sinful mankind. This was followed by the anointed time of adoration. A panel discussion coordinated by Nimin Joy in which Fr. Joby, Ms. Divya and Ms. Anitha participated, conveyed the message to the participants that how it is possible to a Christ-centered life in their life situations. The session enlightened the participants about the possibilities provided by St Alphonsa Church and the opportunities in Jesus Youth to be involved with the active ministry in the Church. At 4.50 pm Ms. Archana the General Coordinator of the programme delivered the vote of thanks and by 4.55pm the programme concluded with music.
All the participants had a never forgetting encounter with Jeus, our Lord and King.

Completion of a successful Intercession Month

'Be persistent in prayer, and keep alert as you pray, Giving thanks to God."-Colossians 4:2
And this is exactly what the Jesus Youth of Mangalore did. The intercession month was inaugrated with a mass celebrated by Fr. Francis and con-celebrated by Fr. Rudolf Noronha.
Each day,the entire Jeus Youth of Mangalore prayed for a particular intention during the month. The Night Vigil held on the 14th of Nov at the Bishop's house was an experience of its kind, with the theme of Prolife. About 28 members were present for it. One half of the night was spent in understanding about prolife and the other for interceding for the Unborn children. Dr. Mammen ( incharge of the National Doctors core team) was the main resource for the night vigil.
The rosary procession on the 21st began from Pastoral center, Bajjodi and ended at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte with an houf of adoration. The time of adoring and worshiping the Lord was led by Jeejo and Berna. Around 60 were present for this and each had a rejuvenating experience with the Lord.
A Taize worship was organised on the 24th of Nov at Fatima retreat house, Valencia. The true held felt worship was led by Rodney Pereira and a team of musicians. Around 55 members were present for the worship.
The intercession month ended with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Fr. Rudolf Noronha ( animator of Jesus Youth,Mangalore). Indeed the city was blessed with number of blessings during this beautiful month of prayer.

MEET JESUS:'Redefining Life"-A North East Gathering











A number of students and migrants from the North East states of India are residing in and around Mangalore. The vision of reaching out to such youths and giving them Christ has led to this gathering of North East youth at Mangalore, which was the first ever gathering of such kind. It was held on the 8th of Nov 2009, at the St. Aloysius College Primary Hall




There were a total participation of 61 youth from 6 different states of the North East of India. Salma,a Manipal Jeus Youth, was the MC for the day. The music ministry was rocking. The Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese, Rev. Dennis Prabhu addressed the participants and shared his experiences with them at the beginning of the day. Fr. Nelson (Animator of the Charismatic Renewal in Mangalore) and Fr. Jais (Animator of the KJYT) celebrated the Holy Eucharist for the participants. Dr. Nishan and Rodney Pereira led the two sessions of the day, along with some group activity also. The programme ended with a time of adoration led by Anil that was heart-touching.




The great effort and hard work behind this programme was put by the full-timers of the present batch, Chinkimlung John and Xavier.

NOVEMBER-Month of Intercession



A month full of intercessory prayers is planned, which was


inaugarated with a mass in DSHJ convent on the 1st of Nov. 09 which was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Francis D'Almeida.The month includes personal as well as community intercessions. The personal intercesion includes a pre-planned schedule for the month with different intentions for each day and another initiative called 'press a pause' where every jesus youth dedicates a day full for personal prayer,silence and meditation . The intercession gatherings include NIGHT VIGIL on the 14th Nov, 09 at the bishop's house, then a WALK WITH MAMMA MARY ont he 21st, and TAIZE WORSHIP on the 24th.

Lets all join together in interceding for our city, for its said "A LOT OF KNEELING WILL KEEP US IN GOOD STANDING".

Worshiping the Lord through MUSIC!!!










An evening worshiping the Lord through music was organised on the 25th of Oct, 09 in St.Agnes Special School from 3.30 to 5 pm.



Around 65 joined for the worship. The music team comprised of Prem (guitar), Anthony (base guitar), Julius (drums), Roseanne (voilin), Suraj (keyboard) and singers- Dillon, Ovida, Aruna, Deon, John, Crystal, Bryan, Anil and Berna.



Anil shared the Word on worship which was followed by a beautiful time of worship by Prem and Berna. The music team declared to have such worship evenings every month.

Deeper And Higher

The preparations for the conference in Karnataka were formally launched on the 15th of February 2009 in Bangalore. We had close to 70 delegates from various parts of Karnataka for the launch. Many preparatory programs were organized for preparing the volunteers and participants for the conference. We had two volunteers training, Intercession retreat, growth retreat which happened during the last 9 months. We had round the clock intercession, a lot of people travelling and a series of meetings which helped in the preparation of the conference.

The conference for the region was held from the 2nd to the 4th of October in DVK Auditorium, Christ University, Bangalore.

Jesus Youth from all parts of Karnataka came together as one family to be part of the conference. The preparatory meetings and events for the conference had generated a lot of momentum which built up to the conference. People from outside the host city started pouring in to the venue a day before the conference.
We had a little more than 500 Jesus Youth for the conference which included Priests, Religious, Families and Youth. The presence of people from different background and culture in itself was a beauty of the conference.
The resources and other dignitaries who graced the conference with their presence were Archbishop Bernard Moras (Archbishop of Bangalore), Fr Dennis Prabhu Moras (Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese), George Devassy (Coordinator, Jesus Youth International), CC Joseph, Fr Adolf Washington, Adv Raiju Varghese, Alex Njavally, Siljo Thomas, Fr Jacob Britto, Rajan Uncle, Rodney Pereira, Dony Peter, Fr. Alberto Monnis CRS, Fr Sandesh, and Fr Mathew Koikkara CMI.

The conference began at 9 am on 2nd October with praise and worship. This was followed by consecration of statue of Mother Mary, Bible and the Cross by Fr Jais (Pastor, Jesus Youth Karnataka), Sr Fideles (Former Animator, Jesus Youth, Bangalore), James (Animator, Jesus Youth Karnataka), Siju Mathew (Animator, Jesus Youth Karnataka), Suraj Noronha (Coordinator, Jesus Youth Karnataka), Jessy MJ (KJYT member). Mother Mary’s consecrated statue was placed on the stage, reiterating the ever present support from our immaculate Mother for the conference.
The inaugural Holy Mass was celebrated in Kannada by Fr. Rudolf (Pastor Jesus Youth), Fr. Sandesh (Assistant Parish Priest, St.Antony’s Church, Bangalore) and Fr. Mathew Koikara (Parish priest, St. Thomas Forane Church, Bangalore). Fr.Sandesh also taught the participants a Kannada song and enthralled the participants by playing the guitar and mouth-organ together
We had optional seminars, panel sharing’s and few parallel sessions that happened on the second day of the conference. The audiovisual ministry put up choreography and a stage play which communicated the challenges faced by saints and heroes of Christianity. We had a beautiful Rosary Procession in the evening.
On the third day we had more discussions on the lifestyle of a Jesus Youth and a picture was presented on where the Jesus Youth is headed to? We also had the planning session coordinated by Suraj Noronha where the focus areas of KJYT was presented.
We celebrated the year of priests during the final session of the conference. We had invited all the priests and religious who are familiar to the Jesus Youth for this celebration. The priest and religious were presented with mementoes and special prayers were offered for them after the concluding Mass.

Taize at Divine Call Centre,Mulky

A Taize worship was conducted for the ICYM members who were attending a 3 day retreat at Divine Call Centre,Mulky on 26th Sept 09 in the evening. Anil D'souza introduced about the Taize worship. Suraj Noronha helped the gathering learn the songs. The beautiful choir which included Prem, Wedson, Brian, Ovida, Dionne, Aruna, Dillon, Anil and Suraj led the gathering into melodious chantings. The reading and the intercessory prayers were led by the ICYM members.Around 200 people participated in this worship.
The Jesus Youth is also leading the praise and worship for all the three days.

'BACKBONE OF OUR MOVEMENT'

A 6 hour intercession was held in Bishop's house on the 27th Sept,09 in preparation of the coming Deeper and Higher conference in Bangalore from 2nd to 4th October,09. The day started with a mass. Jaison led a beautiful time of adoring the Eucharistic Lord, Bro.Tony shared on prayer and intercession. There was a time of intercession for the conference in which everyone participated and fervently prayed.
Everyday,Mangalore bends its knees in front of the blessed sacrament interceding for the conference in Fatima Retreat House,Valencia from 7pm to 9pm for the conference.

St.Agnes retreat

There was a retreat for the first year students of St. Agnes Degree College,Bendoor on 18th and 19th of september. The crowd was about 200 . Fr. Rudolf inaugraed thr retreat with the Holy Mass and homily on Uniqueness of every person. Gleron and Prem took a interactive M/C involving the students greatly in the retreat.The sessions like God's love ,Jesus My savior , Sin & repentance , Media Effects, Holy Spirit's guidance in studies and decision making , and others were taken by Mr. Anil, Mr. Suraj, Sr. Michelle,Mr. Prajwal, Br.Rodney,who gave a good exposure to the light of faith. Testimonies from Mr. Suraj , Mr. Prajwal were showing the reality of existence and working of the Almighty.
Music on base guitar , acoustic guitar , keyboard and drums gave a rythm to praise the almighty God, thanks to musicians like Prem, Brayn, Greg , John, Suraj,Anthony. There as good worship time led by our leaders. Rowen was handling the media work , which also worked a lot for the students to grasp the message.Thanks especially for the intercession team including Steffi, Crystal,Jaison...; which gave a backbone support.
Let God be praised for all this greatness shown. The Concluding Holy Mass and homily on how to keep up this spiritulity was by Fr. Bineesh, who also lead through the prayer for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.Thanks to the manangement of St. Agnes College, who co-operated with us during the 2 days.

Ministry Gathering

All ministry and core teams members had a gathering at Infant Jesus,Bikarnakatte on the 9th of Aug 09 organised by the service team. There were around 40 members present.
The gathering began at 8.30am with the prayer meeting which is usually held at that time,with the Jesus Youth prayer lead by Suraj Noronha, followed by Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr.Nelson. There was a good time of fellowship and also talk given by Bro.Rodney Pereira on "working in ministry".
Mr.Anil discussed about Kristotsava,a program happening in the Diocese of Mangalore and the participation of Jesus Youth in it. Mr.Anto from Bangalore, assistant general coordinator of Deeper and Higher in Karnataka enlightened us on this conference and our role in it.

Now the teens ministry are preparing for Teens retreat at St Ann' School on 11th and 12th August.

Hi all,

I am filled with joy when I recall the Karnataka leaders gathering and
the KJYT reconstitution that happened last weekend in Blr. We had 150
participants from 18 places of Karnataka. The gathering was blessed
with the presence of Most Rev. Robert Miranda (Bishop of Gulbarga),
Archbishop Ignatius Paul Pinto (Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore), Fr
Franklin (Secretary, Karnataka Youth commission and pastor for
Karnataka Parish team) Fr Emmanuel MSFS (Dean of Suvidya college and
former pastor of KJYT), Fr Jais MSFS (Pastor of Jesus Youth
Karnataka), Raiju Varghese (Jesus Youth International Team member),
Siljo Thomas (Jesus Youth National coordinator), Jose Sebastian (JYNT
member), C C Joseph (Jesus Youth International Team member) and other
elders, religious and senior leaders in Karnataka. The gathering helped each of us to
learn how we can grow to be a strong committed leader for Christ.

Light a Candle for Peace

Well, You may wonder wats the heading all about, Light a Candle for Peace was the theme with which Taize Prayer happened at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, on the 5th of April 2009, organised jointly by The Mangalore Diocesan Ecumenical Commision and The Jesus Youth.

It was the Palm Sunday evening, as around 400 participants gathered in the hall.


Firstly Mr. Suraj Noronha taught the songs to everyone, and then Mr. Rodney Pereira, who had been to Taize, France, introduced Taize form of Prayer to the people gathered.

Then Fr. J.B Saldhanha, Secretary, Diocesan Ecumenical Commission, spoke few words to everyone present there.

Then as the lights were put off, Taize Prayer took off with the Kannada hymn Thande deva!!
After singing various chants and going through the scriptures, and praying for peace and when everyone were into the core part of the prayerfullness,This song 'We adore You Lord Jesus Christ', was sung by the participants with the choir, as people were holding a candle symbolizing the theme, as it said " Light a Candle for Peace", then later everyone walked forward to bow down and adore the Lord on the Cross, was truly a very touchy scene...

Nurses Growth Retreat (March 26th-29th)

The Nurses Growth Retreat happened from 26th evening to 29th afternoon, after which the participants had a personal planning session, around 25 participated in the same . Br. Edmund and team took up the retreat,

Athena Nursing College Retreat- (March 27th-29th)

Athena Nursing college retreat started on 26th with Mr. Robert from St Joseph' College leading the nurses into a wonderful time of Praise and worship, then by a session on I am unique by Mr. Golvin who is a part of Karnataka Nurses team,
Well then taken over by Fr Saleen, who shared somr real beautiful thoughts on 'why am I so Precious' and about 'God's love', Had a beautiful time of Holy Eucharistic celebration in the noon,
Fr. Nelson , the Charismatic director of Mangalore who spoke on youth issues before which there was a nice skit, well then the participants had very touching experience during the adoration in the evening.

The second day was a day of reflection, were participants prepared for the Confessions and later the inner healing adoration led by Fr. Saleen,

The Final day was a joyous day for the participants, there was a introduction of the Jesus Youth movement, done by Mr Hebin, then a Prolife session by Ms. Jincy
The Peak time of the day was the infillin time, it was very beautifully led by Mr. Anil.
The retreat ended with the time of celebration where the participants with the music team sang and danced for the Lord!

Ms. Alphonsa was the General Co-ordinator for this retreat.

Taize at Rosario Church

Ooh. . We Adore you Lord Jesus Christ, Love date Dominum....
It was another Taize Worship, this evening as people were meditating as they were looking at the Cross

The Taize Worship at Rosario Church was a wonderful time from 7pm - 8pm on 27th March as people gathered in the hall for this Taize experience.
As Anil started it off introducing to the participants wat' s this Taize worship all about, and after having some time off practice, Taize worship started eventually with few Bless the Lord my soul, there was this beautiful psalm 23, sung in Konkani 'Somi Mujho Gowli' as it continued with the bible reading and prayers of the faithful,
some thing really beautiful was the time when people gathered around the Cross to adore it.
Taize worship was well Co-ordinated by Mr Anil Dsouza.
Decoration was taken care by Jeejo.

Night Vigil- March 14th

The Night Vigil happened on March 14th from 9:30pm- March 15th 6am , an initiative of the Intercession Ministry

The Vigil Consisted of Praise and worships and Sessions regarding on Lent by Fr. Nelson, Charismatic Director of Mangalore, and a session on Our Call from God by Dr. Nishan,

As it is the Lenten season, there was a very meaningful Way of the Cross led by Mr. Henry from St. Joseph' College

The beautiful part of the Night Vigil was the Candle Light Intercession, which really made people to pray for the various institutions in our city, it was wonderfully led by Ms Hazel and Ms Berna.

His Grace Bishop Aloysius Paul D'souza offered the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, with a meaningful Homily in the morning, after which the Night Vigil was concluded,

Report of Activities in the month of February


Þ Second step
A Campus ministry initiative where around 12 people gather once a week to pray, learn about the catholic faith, and discuss on it. This happened on 8th Feb, Sunday and 14th Feb Saturday at St Dominic’s Church, Urva. Mr. Anil D’Souza is the Chief Master.

Þ Night Vigil
Night vigil for the month of February happened on 14th Feb ’09, this was an Intercession team initiative, around 25 of them took part, Bro Tony was the resource and Fr Bineesh offered mass in the morning.

Þ Builders
A Nurses ministry initiative- Key Leaders of the ministry gathered for the same. around 30 of them were present, Fr Bineesh, from the Dominican Seminary was the Resource. The venue of the program was at the Youth Centre, Jeppu, Mangalore. It happened on February 22nd

Þ Oasis
Jesus youth helped out with the mobilization for the retreat organized by the Carmelites for the youth of Mangalore, named Oasis, following up will be done with the Prayer meetings at Infant Jesus shrine on every Sunday evening 4pm - 5pm.

Mangalore Core Team Training, happened on the 25th and the 26th of January, the participants were the Core team members and Key leaders from different prayer meetings which take place in Mangalore and the sub regions of Mangalore.

Mr. Biju C., Mrs. Leena, Mr. Suraj N., and Ms Jincy V. were the main resources for the program

Mr. Biju and Mrs. Leena shared on how to work in the core team and how to build stronger Prayer meetings,
Mr. Suraj shared on how to lead an effective Praise and worship,
Ms Jincy spoke about how the Jesus youth movement grew in in Mangalore
Fr Melwin D’cunha, Pastor Jesus youth, Mangalore offered Mass on the first day,
Mr. Anil D. lead the adoration on the second day,
The number of participants were around 120,
